AZ.AGR. ANTICO PODERE DEL GUALDO

The estate of the Antico Podere del Gualdo which is situated in the heart of the Chianti wine region, can trace the origins of its buildings, now converted into holiday homes, as far back as the Medieval era. Located at an altitude of some 550mt above sea level, amid secular woods (the word Gualdo derives its meaning of “special woods” from the Longobard language), overlooking the surrounding hills and valleys,  it is surrounded by numerous olive groves whose cultivation is the main activity of the estate. Guests are most welcome to “degustare”  this internationally famous estate produced extra-vergine olive oil, called Sinolea. A small lake, which has been created from the spring of a natural water supply, provides Gualdo with all its water and completes the magnificient ecosystem of the estate. The valley facing north east exposes the estate to frequent and pleasant summer breezes making the climate ideal during Italy’s hot summer months. There are many paths through the woods awaiting exploration either on foot or on mountain bike. The holiday homes, from 2 to 8 pax, are  furnished in typical Tuscan style, all have terracotta flooring and beamed ceilings together with all modern comforts. On site there is a shared swimming pool and all the homes have their own outdoor area with table and chairs for al fresco dining. Within easy reach are Castellina in Chianti 4 km (where are all shops and services) , Siena 18km, Florence 40km, San Gimignano 30km and all the castles, villages and vineyards of Chianti itself.
