The Teatro dell’Accademia dei Ricomposti in Anghiari dates to the 1700s, when the Corsi family tasked the Florentine architect Lorenzo Pozzolini to design and erect the building. The theatre passed into the hands of the Accademia dei Ricomposti in the early 19th century which owned it until 1985, when it was purchased by the municipality.
The theatre vaunts an oval shape and three levels of seating, though starting in the 1910s, the building underwent several renovations, especially on the exterior. In 1962-63, following a project by the engineer Nedo Mori, major renovations were carried out that increased the seating capacity to 570, created a new atrium and projection room and modernized the facilities.
In 1985, the municipality restored the theatre, which has been managed by the Associazione Teatro Stabile di Anghiari since 1995, which revitalized the cultural fabric of the Valtiberina, bringing in renowned figures, co-producing performances, valorizing young artists, renewing the rapport with local schools and organizing theatre classes for kids and adults.
