The Bagno Bernabò establishment is located on the slopes of Colle di Corsena in Bagni di Lucca, a resort where wellness and relaxation are the watchwords.
The sulfate-bicarbonate-calcic waters of the Bernabò spring gush forth at 39.2 degrees and are renowned for their therapeutic effects in the treatment of skin diseases, problems of the osteo-articular system, rheumatic diseases and the respiratory system.
Bagno Bernabò offers several dressing rooms with a single 19th-century marble bathtub, used for thermal baths, mud baths, massages and other treatments. In addition, there is a bathtub dedicated to thermal bathing for two or more people and the Steam Grotto, a perfect mix of heat and humidity to purify your body and relax.
The Bagni di Lucca establishment is named after Bernabò, a Florentine who in the 16th century cured a serious skin disease by soaking in the hot mud. In 1810 Elisa Baciocchi, Napoleon's sister, built the present establishment, which after a restoration completed in 2006 can offer again the beneficial effects of the famous spring.
Bagni di Lucca has been known since antiquity for the therapeutic virtues of its hot springs, and over the centuries it has hosted poets such as Byron, Shelley, and Montale; writers such as Dumas, Heine, Lamartine, and Ouida; the great Paganini; and among the nobility, from Matilda of Canossa and Frederick II to Napoleon Bonaparte with his beautiful sister Pauline.
