The Church of San Paolo originated from the expansion of an older church, dated around the mid-14ᵗʰ century, and features Pistoia-Romanesque and Gothic touches. The cusped door features a statue of Saint Paul in the lunette and a statuette of Saint Jacopo, patron saint of Pistoia, in the upper cusp.
The single-room interior has undergone a great deal of structural work over the centuries, particularly following a fire in the year 1895. At the end of the 20ᵗʰ century, thanks to a major restoration, large stained-glass windows by Pistoia artist Umberto Buscioni depicting the Conversion of Saint Paul were installed, followed in 2011 by four stained-glass windows with a temporal division of the day, also by Buscioni.
