The Parish Church of San Lorenzo di Vinacciara in Minucciano that we see today dates to the 12th century, though it was probably built atop an early medieval church. The building was erected with a Latin-cross plan, three naves and a semi-circular apse. In the Middle Ages, it was surrounded by an enclosure, the only trace of which remains today is the door in the south-east corner.
The base of the bell tower was built in the 14th century, and between the 16th and 17th centuries, the church was raised to match the newly-reconstructed corners of the apse, which had been damaged by an earthquake.
In the 17th century, the main portal was replaced and the new architrave was decorated with the Bernardine crest, while the jambs were adorned with a rich decoration of shoots and flowers. The building to the south of the church was erected during this period.
During a restoration in 1927, some ashlar blocks being replaced and a white marble bas-relief depicting St. Lawrence was installed to support the grating in the lunette above the door.
