Not far from Puntone di Scarlino is located “La Polveriera” beach, which takes its name from an old powder warehouse once located there but of which no trace remains today. The beach, that can be easily reached both by car and bike through a practical cycle path, features sandy shores and shallow, crystal-clear waters. Thanks to these elements and the absence of currents, this beach is an ideal place for families with children. The Polveriera offers also a long pier that reaches out into the open sea, which was historically meant to dock ships used to transport sulfuric acid from the Metalliferous Hills.
There are bathing establishments, free-access beach, refreshment points and playground in the pine forest behind, which is excellent for providing refreshment during the hottest hours of the day.
