The Landscape Museum in Castelnuovo Berardenga, housed in a late 19th-century building originally used as a public slaughterhouse, is unique in that its central theme is not works of art or tangible objects but an idea.
The museum itinerary, equipped with a series of interactive devices, offers visitors a journey through the concept of landscape to closely discover the economic and anthropic aspects related to it. Through documents, maps and photographs, an attempt is made to retrace the history of agrarian landscapes and all the changes related to cultivation and animal husbandry that have affected the conformation of the land.
The visit is also enhanced by an olfactory station, as well as an educational section where workshops and activities dedicated to families are organized and a space where local wines can be tasted. It is also possible to consult the Memory Archive, which collects evidence and documents on the history and development of the Chianti landscape.
