70 works spread across the hills of Peccioli

The MACCA - Museo D'Arte Contemporanea a Cielo Aperto (Open-air Museum of Contemporary Art) - brings together, under one direction, the installations scattered throughout the territory of Peccioli and its hamlets. An ever-increasing collection that now includes more than seventy predominantly large-scale works.

In Peccioli, for example, you can walk along a colorful walkway wrapped in a sinuous ribbon that leads you to the view of the valley, thanks to the Endless Sunset, an installation by Patrick Tuttofuoco, or to admire a wall dotted with photos depicting eyes: a work by artist Vittorio Corsini entitled Lo sguardo di Peccioli.

Leaving the village, at the amphitheater of Fonte Mazzola and at the Legoli waste treatment and disposal plant, you can contemplate four sculptures ranging from three to nine meters high (“Presenze”- meaning Presences) representing human figures emerging from the earth to symbolize the power of regeneration.

In this way, art becomes a tool for visiting the area and its most hidden places: just think of the small village of Ghizzano, where artist David Tremlett has colored the façades in Via di Mezzo with various shades of green and brown, which are the colors of the Peccioli hills.
