The Museum of the Contrada Priora della Civetta is located inside the Castellare degli Ugurgeri, a medieval fortress in the heart of Siena.
The museum conserves the winning banners, sacred décor, historic uniforms, namely the costumes worn during the celebrations, and the works of art owned by the contrada.
Here you can admire the historic banners dated between the 18th and 20th century, as well as those won recently, the Sienese Wolf that originally was in piazza Tolomei and even an archaeological collection of centuries-old majolica, from the 13th-18th century, uncovered during an excavation of a medieval well.
Attached to the museum and an integral part of the visit are the contrada’s Oratory, the Church of Sant’Antonio da Padova, and the stables.
