At the confluence of the Bisenzio river in the Arno in the municipality of Signa is the Parco dei Renai, a large green area with equipped spaces for leisure activities. Created starting from a run-down area used until the 1970s for the extraction of sand and gravel, it is now an oasis of peace, which also houses an integral reserve created in cooperation with the WWF.
The large park offers various sports activities to try your hand at such as miniature golf, sailing school, sport climbing, five-a-side soccer and beach volleyball, as well as a funny and colorful playground for children.
But for many people Renai is also the "sea" of Florence: the fine sandy beach is perfect for those who love to sunbathe and for those who enjoy seaside relaxation even in the city. At the beach equipped for bathing you can snooze under a sun umbrella, grab a bite to eat at the bar, or cool off with a swim in the waters of the river.
For fitness enthusiasts, there are nearly 20 kilometers of trails equipped for running, as well as a walking/cycling path connecting the Parco dei Renai with the Parco delle Cascine (Cascine Park) in Florence.
Fishing is not allowed in the park.
