The Public Fountain, located before the exit from the Porta della Torre (Tower Gate), is real evidence of the twentieth-century history of the municipality of Monterotondo Marittimo.
In fact, it was already being used in the first decades of the twentieth century by the citizens of Monterotondo Marittimo, who were lucky enough to find water near their homes without having to travel to distant and inconvenient places. At that time, having such a convenient water supply was Indeed a privilege that made citizens’ life much easier.
Furthermore, the small square containing the fountain, called Piazza Donatori del Sangue, is very distinctive, due to its structure and the architecture surrounding it, and it marks the entry point of a charming little street called "Via Bramasole". This road, named after the fact that the inhabitants of that place apparently "crave" the sun that does not reach them because of the tall buildings that surround it, leads up to the "Poggiarello" area, where there are several pieces of evidence of the first inhabited settlements in Monterotondo Marittimo.
