Quality Market Hall (MeQ)

The MeQ of Follonica, or the Quality Market Hall, is a large showcase of products typical of Northern Maremma.

Located in Piazza XXIV Maggio, it offers food shops where you can buy fresh, excellent quality food and drinks: from meat and fish to lots of different types of sandwiches filled with locally-grown products.

After almost 4 years of restoration work, the MeQ is now a place where local products and good food linked to seasonality and Tuscan culinary traditions are promoted. The facility is completely plastic free and pet friendly: no plastic bottles are used and there are numerous places where your pets can quench their thirst.

You can also find an area dedicated to show cooking, tastings and a fish auction. By means of all these activities and initiatives, the MeQ wants to tell the story of the territory through food and wine, bringing the producer closer to the consumer.

The facility is equipped with a water tank where you can fill up on water and there is also a waste compactor in which you can insert plastic bottles to be disposed of. Once you reach a certain threshold of inserted bottles, a discount voucher is issued for the purchase of products within the market. Lastly, by combining the fight against waste with the ethical factor, the unsold products remaining at the end of the day are delivered to the cafeteria of Caritas, a charity organization.
