The objects conserved in the museum come from the Church of Santa Maria Assunta

The San Michele Museum in Massa e Cozzile is located in the main piazza in town, specifically in the rooms adjacent to the chapel of the convent of the Visitation Sisters. The convent was founded in the second half of the 17th century and enlarged between 1714 and 1718. The chapel was also decorated in this period, which is an integral part of the museum, vaunting painted stucco decorations. The Bologna-based painter Luigi Crespi painted the Presentation of Mary around this time as well.

The painting gallery was established with the aim of valorizing the territory’s cultural and artistic patrimony. It organizes thematic exhibitions and cultural activities. The museum visit includes the 18th-century chapel and the wooden choir (late 18th-century), accessed via a beautiful gate. The room with the choir, priceless liturgical vestments are on display inside glass cases, while in the adjacent room, there are exquisite sacred furnishings.
