The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Soccorso, located in via Roma in Prato, owes its construction to miraculous events related to a tabernacle found on the intersection with the road to Galciana (today’s via Marco Roncioni). Specifically, on November 6, 1574, during a storm, a shepherdess and her flock were near the tabernacle when they were miraculously protected by the rain. Other extraordinary events happened in the months that followed.
The church as a porch on all three sides, the prototype of many Tuscan sanctuaries built in the 17th and 18th centuries. The façade bears a brick cornice and a Medici coat of arms. On the right, there is a bell tower built in 1826-27. The interior is modest and was renovated in more recent years. The miraculous fresco of the "Nursing Madonna" by Pietro and Antonio di Miniato (15th century) is today at the centre of the high altar.
