Sanctuary of Madonna dei Monti in Casciana Terme Lari
A sacred place surrounded by nature in the Pisan Hills
The Sanctuary of Madonna dei Monti is located in the Municipality of Casciana Terme Lari, a short distance from the village of Sant'Ermo. It stands on a hill, where there is a beautiful view stretching from the Gulf of Poets to the top of Mount Capanne on Elba Island.
It is an ancient building, remodeled several times, also following the earthquake that struck the Pisan Hills in 1846.
Inside it, at the high altar, there is a depiction of "Our Lady of Sorrows" and there are votive offerings on the walls, showing how dear this place was to the people of the Pisan and Livorno Hills.
The outdoor space is surrounded by thick vegetation, ideal for a relaxing in nature.
For the people of Sant’Ermo, this place is one with special value, as religious and folk traditions are kept alive here during the months of May and June.
A "SkyBench" has been installed near the Sanctuary, allowing you to enjoy the view of the hills to the full.
