Discovering the mysteries of the skies

The Astronomical Observatory of the University of Siena is part of the Sistema Museale dell’Università di Siena (SIMUS) and is a laboratory where university students, as well as any and all school students, learn about the sky and how to use various tools, including the most up-to-date technology for remote controlled observations and for getting astronomical images.

The Observatory’s instruments are kept in a 3-metre-wide spherical dome which, although close to the city, enjoys a clear night sky from East to West, and evenings of guided observation open to the general public are often organised in collaboration with other associations in the region in order to give everyone the opportunity to be closer to the starry skies.
