The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Giglio is located in Prato. Originally known as the Oratory of S. Silvestro, it was restored and transformed into a sanctuary between 1672 and 1680 following a miracle related to the image of the Virgin Mary frescoed on the exterior of the church above a well, when a dry lily flower in front of the painting inexplicably bloomed.
Under the porch in front of the church, there is a sandstone portal that dates to the early 1400s. The interior vaunts a single nave covered by seven wooden trusses. The venerated fresco of the Madonna is today located at the centre of an elegant high altar, framed by a canvas painting by Pier Dandini of "Saints Sylvester, Hyacinth and Mary Magdalene" (1705).
