Built in 2014 to replace the old Municipal Theater, the Maggio Fiorentino Theater is the work of architect Paolo Desideri and is home to the renowned Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Festival, the oldest in Italy. Founded in 1933 in Florence, it immediately had an international flair and became a reference point for the biggest names in musical entertainment: conductors, directors, world famous artists took turns on the Florentine stage of what would become the glorious theater of the city of Florence.
An opera and symphonic season is offered each year alongside numerous initiatives, such as conventions, concerts, and performances for children and families, and a cultural promotion service open to all different audiences with facilitated conditions for participation.
Upon reservation it is possible to visit the Historical Archives where you can admire the sketches, croquis and models of many memorable Maggio productions, as well as the costumes and stage jewelry of great artists, such as Renata Tebaldi and Ebe Stignani.
In addition, thanks to the MaggioTour, you can discover the world that moves behind the scenes and that normally you do not see, to live a unique experience in the world of opera or symphonic music discovering the places where performances are born: the stage, the tailor's shop, the dressing rooms where artists wear costumes and make-up, the rehearsal rooms of the Orchestra and Choir.
