A park perfect for a family day out and home to 600 animals

The Zoological Garden of Pistoia, open since 1970, is a 7-hectare park that is home to 600 animals including mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, in an environment that tries to recreate their natural habitat as much as possible.

It is an ideal place for nature lovers who want to learn about animals and is perfect for a family day out with children. A visit to the Zoological Garden of Pistoia allows the young and old to meet animals, become familiar with them and learn how to protect them.

Among the various species that can be encountered are brown bears, lynx, tigers, lions, giraffes, colourful parrots and the rare lemurs of Madagascar. You can admire the markhor, the large wild goat of Afghanistan, the red panda, the African penguins, and many other species that arrive at the Park through European breeding programs for endangered species.

Those who wish to do so can participate in educational activities to discover the secrets of nature through hands-on experience. The Zoological Garden of Pistoia offers unique experiences to get up close with the Aldabra giant tortoise, African penguins, or ring-tailed lemurs.

The zoo is actively involved in various conservation projects, such as protecting the African penguin in South Africa, the northern buff-cheeked gibbon in Vietnam, and the red panda in Nepal.

Visiting the park is a way to directly contribute to nature conservation.
