An ancient parish, a charming village and a castle in Valdicecina

Enjoy a scenic stroll through the medieval village of Querceto, discovering the parish church of San Giovanni, the ancient hamlet itself, and the majestic Hall of the Castle, where treasured paintings and fine porcelain from the noble Ginori Lisci family are elegantly displayed. The experience continues with a guided tour of our winemaking and aging cellar, followed by tasting three certified organic wines.

The estate stretches across 2,000 hectares of unspoiled nature in the Val di Cecina, between Volterra and the sea, with rolling hills cloaked in coppice woodland and Mediterranean scrub. At its heart lies the Ginori Castle of Querceto, perched atop a hill — a village of medieval origin whose story has been interwoven with that of the Ginori Lisci family for over two centuries. Merchants, navigators, and forward-thinking entrepreneurs, the family's legacy is deeply rooted in innovation and tradition.

The guided tour of the Castle’s Grand Hall offers a rare glimpse into the family’s heritage, showcasing a small collection of tapestries, porcelain, historical artifacts, and letters from generations past.

A truly unique part of the journey is the visit to the barrique cellar, once an old granary and later transformed into the village theatre — a space rich with stories and character.

The experience concludes with a guided tasting of three wines in "La Dispensa del Castello", our wine shop nestled in the village’s former olive mill, where original equipment — including a beautiful stone mill — still stands as a tribute to times gone by.
