Casole d'Elsa and the Living Nativity
Urban trekking in the magnificent Tuscan landscapes and during the Christmas time
A wonderful walking tour of Casole d'Elsa in its natural environment, in conjunction with the prestigious ‘Praesepium’ event, which has already won the ‘Best Living Crib in Italy’ award and is an excellent opportunity to discover the area's notable attractions. We will start the route from the village of Casole d'Elsa with an urban trek admiring its artistic and historical wealth, which can be seen in the 14th-century fortress, the Palazzo Pretorio with its ancient coats of arms and the Romanesque Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta (outdoors only).
We will walk along the perimeter of the walls, arriving in the open countryside where, along the easy farm and neighbourhood roads, we will admire the wonderful agricultural and woodland panoramas typical of this area of Tuscany, a regenerating and highly scenic route that will allow us to arrive in the early afternoon back in the centre of Casole where those who wish (optional activity and subject to ticketing on site) can worthily conclude the experience with a visit to Praesepium.
The tour will take place on Thursday, 26 December, departing at 9.30 a.m.
