Excursion to the Javello Beeches near Prato
One of the most beautiful trails in the Pratese Apennines in its fantastic autumnal guise
Third edition of the Vallupaia Castagnata with new trail!
A beautiful forested hike within the natural area of Mount Javello, a massive pre-Apennine buttress abutting the plains of Prato and Pistoia, a custodian of history, hard mountain work, ancient pastures, stone tabernacles and centuries-old beech trees.
From Vallupaia climbing in altitude, we will cross beautiful chestnut groves until we reach "Fonte del Prete", a real crossroads of paths. Immersed in the atmosphere of autumn folliage we will choose the route that leads to the famous "Sentiero Dei Tabernacoli" at Passo delle Cavallaie.
We will conquer the summit of Mount Javello by walking amidst the double row of "Javello Beeches," destination Pian de'Massi, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the entire province, and a historical site of the Resistance. We will pause to enjoy this grand natural spectacle and also to learn a little history about the famous Buricchi Brigade.
To end on a high note, the beautiful beech forest will accompany us back to Vallupaia where, in the designated area, we will end the day with a lit fire, frugiate and wine!
The highlights we will visit in this proposal:
- Chestnut groves of Vallupaia
