From the Theater of Silence to the Rock of Pietracassia
Beautiful hike in the enchanted hills of Lajatico
Excursion through the landscapes of Valdera, between barren countryside surrounded by farms and an endless series of hills that disappear into the horizon, where the ochre colors mix with the cobalt blue. The pivotal place of our adventure will be the iconic Teatro del Silenzio, symbol of the beautiful village of Lajatico and now of the Tuscan landscape.
We will walk through immense horizons to the solitary and mystical Rocca di Pietracassia, one of the most important medieval monuments in the Province of Pisa. Nestled in a limestone spur on the Sterza stream, the Rocca is a solemn and magical bastion between Valdera and Valdicecina.
We will then retrace our steps and resume the path of the hills until we reach the Teatro del Silenzio. Its unmistakable mass will greet us, testifying to the integration between architecture and the environment.
The Teatro del Silenzio is a natural amphitheatre that has seen international artists such as Laura Pausini, Roberto Bolle, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Andrea Bocelli take turns on stage. Andrea Bocelli, in particular, returns to his hometown of Lajatico every year for a concert, after which the Theater goes back to sleep.
The highlights that we will visit in this proposal are:
- Teatro del Silenzio
- Rocca di Pietracassia
- The village of Lajatico
- The panoramic ridge
