Giacomo Puccini's places

We offer an itinerary that will allow you to learn about the history and places of Italian composer Giacomo Puccini. The itinerary includes two main stops: Lucca and Versilia.

Path in Lucca 2,2 kilometres by foot

1. Depart from Puccini's Birthplace, now a museum, in the terziere of San Paolino. 2. Visit the church of San Paolino, the family parish where the young Giacomo made his debut. 3. Return to Piazza San Michele, where the church where Puccini gave organ lessons is located. 4. Stop at Antico Caffè Di Simo on Via Fillungo. 5. Passing the church of San Frediano, we reach Piazza S. Pietro Somaldi, where there is a precious organ, whose restoration was financed by Puccini. 6. Visit to Piazza dell'Anfiteatro. 7. Leaving the south gate, we glimpse the Guinigi Tower. At the foot of the Tower, we turn onto Via Sant'Andrea and then Via Sant'Anastasio. 8. The street is lined with the Conservatorio, where Puccini studied. 9. Leaving the Conservatory behind and walking down Via Santa Croce, we arrive at the Cathedral of San Martino. 10. Leaving the Cathedral, we reach Piazza del Giglio and its theater.

Path in Versilia: 38 kilometres by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, car

1.Visit the Villa Puccini Museum in Torre del Lago. 2. Nearby, the Giacomo Puccini Grand Outdoor Theater where the festival dedicated to the composer is celebrated. 3. We move to Massaciuccoli, where the ancient Roman villa is located. 4. On the shores of the lake, stands Villa La Piaggetta of the Ginori Lisci family, which Puccini reached by boat.5. We move on to Viareggio.6. Here we find another Puccinian place, the Gran Caffè Margherita. 7. Last stop at Villino Puccini, where the composer moved in 1921 and composed much of his last unfinished opera.
