Hiking in the Upper Rabbi Valley
Beautiful walking in the valley straddling Tuscany and Romagna, in the Casentino Forests National Park
In this excursion we will cross a magnificent beech forest where time seems to stand still. We will admire old trees and huge layers of stepped rocks (scalandrini) where the flow of water creates deep furrows, waterfalls and natural pools.
We will arrive at Cà Sassello, an ancient stone farmhouse now a bivouac under renovation, where we will admire the landscape of the beautiful Rabbi Valley, a sparsely populated territory that gives the unique emotions of the epic, hard and loyal life of the mountain people.
Wonderful views of the Tuscan side will await us at Giogo di Castagno, where we will admire Mount Falco and Falterona, the Balze and the San Godenzo Valley.
We will visit the Capanna di Citerna hut once used by local shepherds to make cheese in the summer during transhumance, we will take to the ridge for an exciting final eagle-eye flight among rocks and incredible views.
The tour will take place on Saturday, September 28 at 9:00 a.m.
