Monte Prado, the roof of Tuscany

The hike to the highest peak in the region, where the view extends as far as the islands of the Archipelago
Large green and gentle peaks alternate with rocky slopes, vast beech forests and summit meadows.
From the summit we will enjoy the view of the Appennino Tosco Emiliano National Park, the Apuane Alps, we will observe Tuscany and Emilia at our feet and we will be enchanted by the view of the sea and the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago on the horizon.
We will leave through the beech forests that overlook the Casone di Profecchia until we reach the large prairies where we will meet the small refuge Cella. From here we will climb up to the Apennine ridge and, following path 00, we will reach the summit of Mount Prado at 2054 meters accompanied by a spectacular view. We are in the Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco Emiliano, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, an area rich in spectacular landscapes and incredible biodiversity.
The sandstone peak of Prado is perfect for observing the Garfagnana on one side and Mount Cusna, another giant of more than 2000 meters, on the other.
