Monterufoli, Puntone di Farneta & Bocca di Secolo
Day tour of the Monterufoli-Caselli nature reserve in the Cecina Valley area
Exploratory trekking through the dense Farneta Forests, one of the wildest and best-preserved areas within the Monterufoli-Caselli Nature Reserve. A true immersion in forests rich in biodiversity, where late-spring blooms such as daffodils, tulips, and the rare dittany create an unforgettable spectacle, it will feel like walking through a living garden.
We will cross permanent wetlands, where we may spot the European pond turtle, and cool, shaded forests home to rare species like the yew tree and sessile oak. From one marvel to the next, we'll reach the confluence of the Secolo and Trossa streams, a place for peaceful rest among crystal-clear pools and colorful boulders.
We'll climb again through a forest trail to reach the summit of Puntone di Farneta, offering breathtaking views that will remain etched in memory.
Continuing uphill, we'll discover the valley of the Adio stream, along a charming route that showcases all the forest biotypes found in the Reserve, including the magnificent Renzano woodland. The trail will culminate at a series of waterfalls, a meditative setting of gentle cascades and natural pools, concluding this experience in one of Tuscany’s most biodiverse areas.
The tour will take place on Monday, June 2nd, with departure at 9:30 AM.
