A tour through autumn’s beauty: flora, fauna and local products in the company of local experts
From Lake Gherardesca to the Autumn Camellia Exhibition: you will explore Lake Gherardesca, a recently restored natural oasis by the Municipality of Capannori, which is home to around 3,000 birds, including many rare species. Afterward, you will reach S. Andrea di Compito, where you'll stroll along the scenic paths of the "Camelietum." A knowledgeable guide will explain the characteristics of various camellia species and share the rich history of this ancient tradition.
The tour will conclude at the Centro Culturale Compitese on October 12th and 13th and at the Azienda Agricola Alle Camelie on October 19th and 20th, where you'll enjoy tastings of local products, including the exquisite extra virgin olive oil from the hills of the Compitese.
