San Casciano dei Bagni, Trekking and Spa

San Casciano dei Bagni, at the center of a border territory between Val di Chiana and Val d'Orcia, is the third largest municipality in Europe in terms of thermal water flow with more than 40 sulfur springs that the Etruscans discovered and later consolidated into thermal facilities by the Romans, hosting emperors such as Octavian Augustus and Horace. 

A natural territory that offers boundless vistas, pastures, gullies, hills where medieval forts and splendid vineyards stand out, while the mass of Mounts Cetona and Amiata form an imposing and striking backdrop. From the splendid center of San Casciano dei Bagni we will make a real immersion in a landscape consisting of an undulating sea of hills, farms and white roads, it will seem as if we are walking in a green sea. 

We will have a wonderful lunch stop on a natural terrace above lake Elvella. We will go up the “Sorgenti” trail, which will lead us to the discovery of the thermal baths locally called the “Vasconi” of Bagno Bossolo and Bagno Grande, with waters reaching 39°, where we will enjoy a well-deserved bath. In the afternoon, we will stop at the natural pool (called "vascone") in front of the archaeological excavations for a well-deserved bath to conclude our trek.
