Tenuta San Donato: winery tour and tasting
All around Florence
Situated in a panoramic position on the hill of the same name in Calenzano, between Florence and Prato, the Tenuta di San Donato has an ancient history dating back to the 1500s.
Here you will be able to find many elements that recall the agricultural history of this area: from the architecture to the interior spaces, to the quality artisanal food and wine products with a strong focus on Tuscan tradition.
During your visit, you will discover that the estate's main activity is the artisanal production of two varieties of oil, monocultivar and multivarietal, whose olives are grown directly on the farm and then pressed in the estate's mill.
Also playing an important role for the farm is the cultivation of vineyards and the subsequent production of wine in the farm's winery: the varieties you will have a chance to taste are Pinot noir, Colorino, Gamay and Teroldego.
After a visit to the winery and a look at the oil mill, you will be guided in tasting the oil varieties along with the IGT wines produced by the farm, namely "Vico," a blend of Pinot noir with Gamay and Teroldego, "Casaglia" 100% Colorino and "Cantagrilli" 100% Pinot noir.
Your tasting will be accompanied by a small sampling of local cured meats and cheeses.
