The Oltrarno hills
Explore Florence, its beauty and its hills
A magnificent route, refined down to the last detail. We will discover the most evocative landscapes and the small, great stories of the most authentic part of the Florentine peri-urban hills, between the Arno and Sieve rivers, with a visit to the magnificent Abbey of Rosano, founded in 780 and considered the oldest active monastery in Tuscany.
A place of history, spirituality, and art, linked to the Conti Guidi family and the Benedictine nuns of Rosano, it also stands out for the remarkable "Cross Painted with the Stories of the Passion" by the Master of Rosano, the miraculous Statue of the Sacred Heart, and the repeated visits of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.
After a short visit, kindly and exclusively granted, we will explore the surrounding area with its scenic hills, eventually reaching the beautiful Pieve di San Lorenzo in Miransù, standing alone and overlooking a wooded valley.
Through groves, streams with natural pools, and historic farmhouses, we will uncover another remarkable chapter in the history and landscape of the Florentine countryside.
The tour will take place on Saturday, May 17, departing at 9:45 a.m.
