The Yellow Caves Linaglia and Parmigiani in Casale Marittimo
Hiking around the famous Yellow Caves in the heart of Tuscany and in the province of Pisa
The Grotte Gialle (Yellow Caves) is a complex of natural calcarenite cavities used by the Etruscans as burial places, tunnels and chambers with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites in which it is possible to recognize bizarre figures carved in the rock that recall animals such as the ram and monkey evoking an atmosphere of pre-Columbian civilizations.
We will leave from the beautiful village of Casale Marittimo for a loop tour that will take us to visit the Yellow Caves and other less visited but equally spectacular caves. We will set out following the course of the Linaglia ditch among beautiful woods, arriving behind the small lake where we will find the first caves, called "Linaglia".
We will continue finding a second complex of caves called "Parmigiani" until we arrive at the majestic site of the Yellow Caves, where we will pause to admire all the details of this enigmatic site. We will then admire the beautiful seaside countryside with superb coastal views on our return journey, where we will not fail to pass through the narrow and characteristic streets of Casale Marittimo to conclude an exciting excursion.
The tour will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025 with departure at 10.00 a.m.
