Three days in the life of Tuscan cowboys
Join the Butteri in their daily work with cattle, following the legacy of the Maremma cowboys, staying in a farmhouse in Chianti
A unique immersive experience (not a course) to discover the work and techniques of the butteri, set in the magnificent Chianti region, with all the comforts of Agriturismo La Forra.
After a brief riding session to ensure everyone feels comfortable with the horses, participants will be immediately involved in the work, receiving instructions as needed.
The agriturismo, housed in historic buildings, offers a luxurious stay: accommodation in a double room with a private bathroom (single occupancy available at an additional cost). The package includes full board from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the agriturismo's restaurant, while lunch will be either at the restaurant or, depending on the season and weather conditions, provided as a rich outdoor picnic organized for the guests.

Meeting point
Plan
- Day 1 - Saddle up & First Herding: Riders gain confidence with their horses before practising rounding up, leading, and separating cattle in a controlled setting. Dinner at the farm restaurant.
- Day 2 - Herding in Open Fields: After breakfast, riders and horses move to a vast hilly pasture to apply herding techniques on a larger, more challenging herd. After lunch (on-site or at the farm, depending on the season), you’ll train with horses, a faster and more reactive experience than working with cattle. Evening return and dinner.
- Day 3 - Independent Herd Management: You'll repeat key herding tasks more autonomously, culminating in a simulated transhumance, moving the herd between pastures. The adventure ends with a farewell lunch at the farm.
