Tour in Fiesole the path of the stonemasons
Discovering the historic stonemasons' path between Settignano and Fiesole
A ring of incredible beauty around the historic places of Monte Ceceri, a place of Leonardi's memory, the Cave di Maiano and Fiesole for an unmissable appointment. We will discover some of the most beautiful places in the entire Florentine hills district, where history, landscape and legend know how to merge into a harmony of unique suggestions.
From Settignano, we can admire the scenery that embraces the centre of Florence and the historical residences perfectly integrated in a splendid context until we reach the vicinity of Maiano.
We will follow the ancient quarry roads in the Monte Ceceri area, where the most famous ones are to be found, such as Cava Sarti and Cava Braschi, whose history, extraction techniques and working environment we will retrace before reaching the mythical Vipsul, or Fiesole with its Etruscan walls. We will stop at Piazzale Leonardo Da Vinci, where the Genius tested his theories on the kite flight, after which we will connect to Borgunto, a historic quarrymen's village near Fiesole.
We will admire the beautiful views over the valley of the Mensola stream and the massive castle of Vincigliata, guardian of the tragic legend of Bianca degli Usimbardi, before arriving at Castel di Poggio to close our magnificent route back in Settignano. A ring that will not fail to fascinate and surprise you!
