Urban trekking in Volterra
The etruscan and medieval walls of the ancient town among nature and history
A nature, history, and archaeology itinerary to discover Volterra. During the tour, we will focus on natural and scenic aspects, as well as interactions between humans and the territory throughout historical epochs. This tour does not include visits to the inside of the archaeological sites, museums, or churches.
- Walking distance: 4 kilometers
- Duration: 2 hours (including breaks)
- Cost: €15.00 per person, free for children up to 12 years old
- Booking required: By 5:00 PM the day before
Key points of interest along the route are: Porta all’Arco, Piazzetta dei Fornelli, the Walls and Fountains of San Felice, the ancient Etruscan walls of Santa Chiara, Berniona, and Guerruccia, the geological formation of the Balze with a view of the Badia Camaldolese, and the Church of San Giusto.
Trekking or sports shoes are recommended (no heels, flip-flops, or shoes with raised soles). The path is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
The tour is conducted in Italian and English every Tuesday in June, July, August, and September.
