Tirrenia

A seaside holiday full of nature and entertainment in the Terre di Pisa

A few kilometres from Pisa is Tirrenia, an immaculate seaside resort surrounded by a broad Mediterranean pine forest. Known for its wide sandy beaches, it also boasts many bathing establishments that accompany numerous accommodation and leisure facilities, all balanced with the natural environment.

Tirrenia’s main attraction is its large coastal beach, characterized both by the presence of bathing establishments and by stretches of public beach where you can enjoy a clear blue sea.

What to see and do at Tirrenia

There are many sporting activities to do in this stretch of the sea, such as sailing and underwater fishing; nor is there any shortage of sports facilities, where you can play beach volleyball, tennis, football, and golf. There is even a circuit for horse riding.

In the green Mediterranean pine forest of Tirrenia you can relax in the Oasis of the dunes of Tirrenia, a protected area managed by the WWF in Pisa: an environment rich in flora and fauna where you can take long walks along the trails, some of which are also accessible for disabled people. In the high dunes you can admire all the typical species of Mediterranean scrubland, as well as the animal and vegetal species of the surrounding environment.

There are plenty of evening activities to enjoy: the town is full of clubs and bars, and the beach resorts organise a lot of evenings right by the sea.
The proximity of Pisa's Galileo Galilei Airport, the port of Livorno and access to the motorway means that travelling to Tirrenia is particularly convenient.

Tirrenia lies in the Terre di Pisa area and only a stone's throw from the Migliarino-San Rossore-Massaciuccoli Regional Park, a vast area of natural beauty between Viareggio and Livorno. Despite being right in the centre of a highly urbanized area, the park has maintained its 24,000 hectares of beautiful natural features.
