An exhibition in the Compitese area dedicated to the undisputed beauty of these ancient flowers

There have been more than thirty editions of the Mostra delle Antiche Camelie della Lucchesia (Ancient Lucchesia Camellias Exhibition), the spring event that transforms the villages of Pieve e Sant'Andrea di Compito, in the municipality of Capannori, into a colorful and fragrant flower garden. The venue for the event is now defined the Village of the Camellias.
During the days of the Exhibition, lovers of these romantic flowers are also greeted by an extensive calendar of events.

For the past few years, the event has been enriched by a fall edition - Mostra delle Camelie d'Autunno (Fall Camellia Exhibition) - dedicated to the sesanqua and sinensis varieties.

The enchanting park of Camellietum Compitese is also dedicated to this elegant flower and awaits you on the way up to Monte Serra, with one wonderful purpose: that of containing as many as  a thousand specimens of camellias. A garden created from the will of the local residents to preserve historic Tuscan 19th century cultivars, but also to share this heritage with visitors. The importance of this garden has also been confirmed by the allocation of the prestigious Garden of Excellence award by the International Camellia Society.

In spring, during the opening days of the Exhibition, in addition to admiring more than 2,500 camellias in bloom and watching the shows in the program, you can take part in guided tours of the Camelietum and explore the villas in the area, in the gardens where ancient camellia specimens are preserved, thanks to the skill and passion of owners and gardeners.

Don't miss a visit to the Antica Chiusa Borrini tea plantation, the only tea plantation in Italy, carried forward by the mastery of an agronomist who has made it resistant even to the cold winters in the Lucchesia region.

Moments of entertainment, initiatives designed for children (entertainment and workshops) and others linked to the themes of food and wine can be added to the calendar.

The 2024 edition of the Fall Camellia Exhibition will take place on October 12 - 13, 19 - 20 and 26 - 27.
As well as a visit to the Camelieto (Camellia Garden), the village and the tea plantation, concerts, theater performances, photo exhibitions, trekking, children's entertainment and cultural events are scheduled daily.
The Food Area, with traditional dishes, will be set up at the Compitese Cultural Center.

The full program is available on the event website.
