Festival of Wild Herbs, Flowers and Buds
A unique event in Italy dedicated to wild herbs and flowers (including edible flowers) and buds.
“Selvaggia” is an event rich in wild herbs and themed menus, guided hikes, talk shows, cooking shows and even a herb market, which will take place on April 12 and 13 in Castelnuovo Garfagnana.
Gathered from meadows and mountains, the wild herbs will be arranged in special pyramids, with a label, brief history plus the specific culinary and medical uses. The local restaurants, guided by the event organizers, will prepare themed dishes and menus inspired by the event, while herbal teas and bitters will be available from the local cafés and bars.
Starting in the morning, it will be possible to take part in guided hikes, during which you can go and gather wild herbs.
On the stage, set up under the Loggiato Porta, talk shows with important guests and cooking shows with great chefs will be staged. At the same time, the Herb Market will come to life in the fittingly named Piazza dell’Erbe (Herb Square), with booths selling medicinal herbs and products in theme with the event.
