Easter Processions

Folklore

The hooded men of the Confraternities walk along the alleys of Castiglion Fiorentino

The Holy Week Processions are an ancient tradition deeply rooted in the Castiglion Fiorentino area. Every year, particularly on Holy Tuesday, Holy Wednesday and Good Friday, members of the three religious Confraternities dedicated to works of charity since the Middle Ages dress in traditional hoods and recite prayers, carrying crosses and statues along the alleys of the historic center.

During the Easter Vigil on Saturday, at the end of the mass the statue of the Risen Christ is carried in triumph to the Collegiate Church.

Easter Processions of Castiglion Fiorentino are not only an expression of local spirituality, but also an important tourist event that attracts many visitors. The beauty of the medieval village, the intensity of the faith and the participation of the population make these rites a unique experience, allowing people to discover the beating heart of one of Tuscany's deepest traditions.
