Musicians and Flag-Wavers Competition

Every year, on the second Saturday in June, in conjunction with the Palio dei Rioni, Castiglion Fiorentino holds the musician and flag-waving contest, one of the most spectacular and enthralling events that brighten the anticipation of the Palio.

The competition is a true celebration of the historical and cultural tradition of Castiglion Fiorentino and features groups of musicians and flag-wavers from the three Rioni: Terziere di Porta Fiorentina, Rione di Porta Romana and Rione Cassero.

Groups of flag-wavers and musicians compete in an exciting competition that combines technical skill, elegance and choreography. The competition is held in the historic center of Castiglion Fiorentino, in the splendid setting of Piazza del Municipio, in an atmosphere that seems to take one back in time, amid the sounds of drums, the twirling of flags and the acrobatics of the figures, who perform in perfect synchrony.

Each Rione competes to demonstrate not only their technical skill, but also their passion and attachment to tradition. A unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the historical and artistic culture of Castiglion Fiorentino.
