An evocative little corner of the Boboli Gardens in Florence that has been closed for over two hundred years and, only as of 2023, partially reopened to the public and accessible by guided tours for small groups.
This “secret garden”, now known as the Camellia Garden, was strictly reserved for certain members of the Grand Ducal family in the Medici era. At the end of the 18th century, following the fashion of the time, the area was set aside for the cultivation of camellias, and today you can admire there significant varieties in size and color, such as a splendid “Candidissima”, dating from 1830.
