The Dutch duo's site-specific installation for Palazzo Strozzi

The exhibition dedicated to Helen Frankenthaler is currently underway in Palazzo Strozzi, in Florence, but the exterior of the historic building also holds surprises.

As part of the Palazzo Strozzi Future Art programme, one can enter freely the ground floor to admire a spectacular site-specific installation created for the courtyard of the palace by the Dutch duo Drift, entitled Shy Society.

The work is inspired by some flowers that open and close depending on the light and day-night phases. This phenomenon induces the visitor to reflect not only on the concept of beauty, but also on the idea of adaptation to the environment by all forms of life.

The square of the courtyard, which is the heart of Palazzo Strozzi, comes alive with impalpable presences arriving from above, accompanied by music. A changeable and immersive multisensory experience that arouses wonder.

Drift is the duo of artists Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta, active since 2007 in the Netherlands.
The music is by RZA, an American rapper, record producer and composer.

Until January 26, 2025.
Free entry.
