For the first time in Florence the timeless works of a giant in photography

With the exhibition "Mimmo Jodice. Senza tempo" (Mimmo Jodice. Timeless), from March 23 to July 14 in Villa Bardini, the second part of the project La Grande Fotografia Italiana (The Great Italian Photography) by Gallerie d'Italia is launched, which started in 2022 with the exhibition dedicated to Lisetta Carmi and which pays tribute to the great Italian photographers of the 20th century.

The extraordinary setting of Villa Bardini hosts the works by Mimmo Jodice, a giant in photographic art, for the first time shown in Florence, exactly on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

The 80 photographs on display highlight the ability of Jodice to show reality through the filter of a different and suspended time, enriched by a first-time section dedicated to works of Michelangelo and a documentary by director and friend Mario Martone on the life of Mimmo Jodice, also this unreleased.

The exhibition offers an important summary of Jodice production, by retracing the main inspiring themes of his art in just as many sections of the exhibit: Anamnesi (Anamnesis), Linguaggi (Languages), Vedute di Napoli (Views of Naples), Città (Cities), Natura (Nature), Mari (Seas). Among the photographs in Villa Bardini, there are also some of the iconic works which have definitively established the greatness of this Neapolitan master.
