On the occasion of the year of Italian roots in the world, Garfagnana could not miss a program full of events that, from June to September will feature the Municipalities of Castiglione di Garfagnana, Fabbriche di Vergemoli, Fosciandora, San Romano in Garfagnana and Villa Collemandina.
It starts on Sunday, July 14 with the fourth edition of the Piazzolla "Soy...! la raíz" Festival dedicated to Argentinian tango maestro Astor Piazzolla which traces its maternal roots to the hamlet of Massa Sassorosso. Here is the detailed program:
The other events in August are: on August 1 in San Pellegrino in Alpe where the Concerto delle Radici (Concert of the Roots) will be held with arias by Lucca composer Giacomo Puccini in the centenary year of his death; on August 2, 3 and 4, in the hamlet of Corfino, where the National Extemporaneous Painting Competition will be held; on August 11, in the Municipality of Fabbriche di Vergemoli, at the renowned extemporaneous poetry competition in Garfagnana dialect "Boccabugia". Finally, on August 24, the hamlet of Chiozza will come alive with the Concert of the Roots.
In September it will be the turn of the Festa dell'Emigrante (Emigrant Festival) in the Municipality of Fosciandora. From September 26 to 29, the Municipality of San Romano will host the "Terre Meravigliose" (Wonderful Lands) event, and on September 29, the hamlet of Orzaglia will close the program with the Festa d’Autunno (Fall Festival), an event of an identity and gastronomic nature.
