The Grand Tour Valdelsa Valdicecina is the main route of an extraordinary territory, as varied as it is unique for the presence of historical evidence and places to explore, signs of ancient and modern works, which allow us to highlight a strong identity trait capable of uniting the eleven villages that rise between Siena and Pisa.
On July 7, a non-competitive randonnée will allow people to immerse themselves in this multifaceted corner of Tuscany: passing through ancient villages and nature reserves, unusual and ever-changing landscapes, such as those of geothermics, and landscapes of history and contemporary art.
Three routes to choose from:
The meeting point for all routes is at the Le Granaglie Civic Center, Piazzale Martiri di Montemaggio, in San Gimignano.
From the city of towers, Manhattan of the Middle Ages, traveling along the roads of ancient pilgrims, such as the Via Francigena, to discover the evocative Castle of Monteriggioni and the Devil's Valley, realm of geothermal energy, whose lunar landscapes are said to have inspired Dante Alighieri's Inferno. And then through pristine nature reserves between Montecatini Val di Cecina and Radicondoli, and important Etruscan cities such as Volterra.
The randonnée is included in the Naional Challenge ARI.
The registration for the Tour Rando and the Grand Tour is online, the registration for the Ciclo Tour will be on-site.
Checkpoints and refreshments will be present at San Gimignano, Larderello, Volterra and Casole d'Elsa.
The longest route entitles to international brevet ACP, while for the medium route the national brevet ARI will be issued.
