At Massa Marittima, opera and innovation in a unique setting

From August 3 to 5, Lirica in Piazza, one of the most important cultural events of the Tuscan summer taking place for over 30 years, returns to Massa Marittima.

Established in 1986, with the aim of enhancing the evocative setting of Piazza Garibaldi and the churchyard of the Cathedral of San Cerbone, a Romanesque-Pisan style masterpiece, the event stands out for the high level of artistic quality and a production that enhances the architectural beauty of the historic center.

In recent years, the event has been revamped through a combination of operatic tradition and visual innovation, using multimedia technologies, lighting effects and original sets designed specifically for outdoor performances.

The result is an engaging show that combines music and history, with a contemporary air:

  • Sunday, August 3
    Turandot by Giacomo Puccini
  • Monday, August 4
    Elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti
  • Tuesday, August 5
    Aida by Giuseppe Verdi
