From April 25 to May 1, 2025, MIDA - the Florence International Handicrafts Fair is back at the Fortezza da Basso, celebrating its 89th edition this year.
The event welcomes 500 artisans and businesses, offering the public the opportunity to admire the most extraordinary creations of Italian and international craftsmanship. This 2025 edition focuses above all on foreign countries very popular with the public: France, Spain, Morocco, Egypt, India, Vietnam and others.
Founded in 1931, MIDA has succeeded in renewing itself and adapting to the times, making space for creativity and innovation, in all the handicraft sectors. The event celebrates the art of handmade goods: each stand recounts centuries of craftsmanship, with works ranging from glass, ceramics, jewelry and fashion to food and wine.
MIDA is more than just an exhibition. Visitors can watch live artisans at work, participate in experiential workshops with master craftsmen and take part in guided tours of the Fortezza da Basso, exploring the underground and hidden spaces in this grand 16th-century complex. Musical events, workshops and children's activities are also on the program.
Among the numerous side events, we want to point out the exhibition at the Cavaniglia Pavilion created with Artex and the Arti Orafe (Goldsmith’s Arts) space at the Polveriera (Armory).
