On Wednesday, July 31, at the Green Beach in Montignoso, as part of the Teatro nei borghi 2024, the Open Strings Quintet presents
Il '900 Classic/Rock
music by Bartók, Šostakovič, Rota, Queen, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Abba, Europe
Virginia Ceri violin
Alessandro Giani violin
Sabrina Giuliani viola
Andrea Landi cello
Enrico Ruberti double-bass
Open is to be understood as openness towards performances not strictly related to classical music (as the line-up would suggest) but towards all beautiful music, good music, the kind that you sit down, listen to and get excited about. Because we believe that there is no such thing as ‘A’ and ‘B’ music… but that there is Good Music!
The proposed repertoire therefore starts with some 20th century music classics such as Béla Bartók‘s Romanian Dances, Dmitrij Šostakovič‘s Waltz No. 2 and two pieces by Nino Rota – taken from the soundtracks of famous films – to launch into some of the most beautiful 20th century Rock compositions – The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Abba, Europe – specially arranged for the string quintet formation by Alessandro Giani.
