The year 2024 brings something new: 33 sea turtle-friendly municipalities have been marked with the turtle symbol because, through a memorandum of understanding, they have committed to taking specific measures to make their beaches welcoming to sea turtles seeking a place to lay their eggs. Castiglione della Pescaia has been identified as the site of the first 2024 Caretta Caretta nest in Tuscany.
