Those who live with a pet know how difficult it sometimes is to take them on trips: many hotels, restaurants or other facilities do not allow dogs and cats, and owners' choices about what to do on vacation with their pets are limited.
However, there are exceptions so that we can spend a few hours among art and culture in the company of our four-legged friends.
Let's find out what they are!
The Sistema Museale Mugello e Montagna Fiorentina is a diffuse museum that brings together different realities of Upper Mugello and Val di Sieve: it is divided into 5 areas, each of which includes museum points, educational workshops and thematic itineraries.
The system's small great museums, which preserve the history of local traditions, offer a rich program of educational activities aimed at schools, groups and families.
All of these museums - except the Convento di Bosco ai Frati in Scarperia and San Piero where only guide dogs are allowed - welcome visitors in the company of their leashed dogs with no size limits.
The Maremma Museums have launched the "Maremma 4-legged Museums" project, which brings together monuments and exhibition sites that accept animals.
There are about thirty participating entities, including castles, mining museums, archaeological museums and many other tourist attractions.
Again, access is free for quadrupeds of all sizes.
